SAFETY

Know your limits and always ride within your limits. We encourage you to always wear a helmet, gloves, knee and elbow pads. Before each ride you should make sure your board, trucks and wheels are in good condition (see below for proper care).

BOARD CARE

Deck

The biggest enemies to any wood deck is heat and moisture. As the humidity in the air changes, your deck is affected. When the humidity increases (wet air), your deck will absorb the moisture in the air and swell, and as the humidity drops (dry air), your board will shrink. Heat can also dry out your deck and cause it to shrink. The shrinkage generally small, but can be enough to cause your trucks mounting hardware to loosen. Extreme and/or repeated changes in humidity and heat can cause cracking in the surface of the board. Usually only limited to the face veneers, these surface cracks usually don't affect the performance of the board. The best way to avoid this is to store your board indoors and away from a heat source, i.e. a heater, heater vent, fire place, oven... Leaving your board in your car can cause damage to your board, as the temperature of the interior of your car or truck is greatly higher than the temperature outside. They can not only cause cracking but in some cases can cause warping. So, please don't leave you board in your car or truck in extreme heat or for extended periods of time.

If you ride in wet conditions or through puddles, you must dry your deck off as soon as possible to avoid damage. This includes removing the trucks and drying underneath the trucks and pads where water can enter your deck through the mounting holes.

To clean your deck, you can wipe it down with a mild soap and wet towel, no abrasive cleaners, and dry thoroughly.

With proper care, your Honey Skateboard will remain beautiful for many years. Thank you for choosing Honey.

Trucks

Check bushings for cracks and replace as necessary. If your trucks squeak when turning, a light lubricating of the bushings and pivot cup can help. Make sure your lube is compatible with urethane, as some lubes may damage the bushings.

Check the mounting hardware for loose bolts. They can become loose from vibration and a slight shrinking of your deck. Do not over tighten mounting hardware. This can cause cracking to your board. Loose mounting hardware can adversely affect the performance and safety of your board.

Check for loose axle nuts. If a loose axle nut comes off, your wheel will follow.

Wheels and Bearings

Check wheels for excessive wear, cracks and missing chunks. Replace as necessary.

If your bearings become rough or slow turning, you can replace or lubricate them. Replace them if they are pitted or have flat spots. Otherwise, you may be able to extend their life by lubricating them. Carefully remove the bearings from the wheel. You can use a pin or other sharp object to carefully remove the protective cap. If the protective caps are metal, it is unlikely you can remove them without damaging them. If this is the case you will probably need to replace the bearings. Otherwise you can clean the bearings with a solvent and dry thoroughly. Use a lubricating oil or light grease on the bearings and replace the protective caps. Some bearings have an open back to reduce friction. If this is the case you can clean and lube the bearings without rmoving the cap.
